Ricardo is more than just a cook: he’s a man with a true passion for communicating with people. He has an engaging personality that shines through in his recipes. In addition to appearing in his daily television show, Ricardo, which has been an unprecedented hit for nine years on the CBC’s French-language network, he also cooks for the camera in English on Ricardo and Friends, seen on the popular Food Network. The French version of his most recent book, Parce qu’on a tous de la visite (Éditions La Presse), won a Gold award at the Canadian Culinary Book Awards, presented by the University of Guelph and Cuisine Canada. The book appeared in English as Meals for Every Occasion (Whitecap Books). Ricardo is also the author of Ma cuisine week-end (Weekend Cooking) and co-author of La Chimie des desserts.
His English and French Website, www.ricardocuisine.com, has more than 2,500 recipes for free online viewing and printing, making it an essential resource for avid home cooks. Ricardo also co-hosts “Les midis de Véro” which is the number one French radio show in Québec, every Friday on Rythme FM Radio.
Ricardo is the head of Ricardo Media, a company dedicated to cooking, which produces magazines, a website and TV shows for Ricardo and other chefs.
Ricardo takes an active interest in youth issues. He is the spokesman for La Tablée des Chefs, an organization that offers cooking classes and summer camps for disadvantaged youth, among other programs. Ricardo considers this a very important cause, because he believes that knowing how to cook and eat better are essential ingredients for personal independence and a better future.
