  1. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients. Season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate. 

  1. Preheat the grill, setting the burners on high.
  2. With a bread knife, cut the tops of hamburger buns in half horizontally. Set aside.
  3. Shape eight large and thin patties with the ground beef. A method to make it easier: put the patties between two sheets of plastic wrap and flatten them by sliding your hand on the film.
  4. Grill the patties for about 3 minutes per side or until the meat is thoroughly cooked. Season with salt and pepper. One minute before the end of cooking, place the cheese slices on half of the patties. Toast the buns.
  5. Spread the inside of the buns with the sauce. Place the plain meat patties on the bottom buns. Garnish with slices of pickles. Cover with the crust-less bun slices. Spread with sauce. Garnish with the lettuce. Add the remaining meat and cover with the top buns.
