Strawberry Banana Crisp

Ingredients

    Filling

  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) semi-salted or unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
  • 3 cups (750 ml) bananas cut into 1/2-inch (1-cm) slices
  • 4 cups (1 litre) frozen strawberries, thawed, with their juice

    Crisp

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) flour
  • 1 cup (250 ml) quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) sliced almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) melted butter

Preparation

  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).

Filling

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and cook for 1 minute. Add the bananas and some strawberry juice. Cook for 2 minutes.
  2. Place the strawberries and the remaining of their juice in a 30 x 20-cm (12 x 8-inch) baking dish.
  3. Spoon the banana mixture over the strawberries and toss gently.

Crisp

  1. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients. Spread over the fruit.
  2. Bake for about 30 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
  3. If necessary, warm slightly in a microwave oven.
