- 6 cups (1.5 litres) water
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) sugar
- Grated zest of 1 lemon
- 4 cups (1 litre) fresh strawberries
- Juice of 6 lemons (about 250 ml/1 cup)
- In a saucepan, bring the water, sugar and lemon zest to a boil.
- Place the strawberries and lemon juice in a pitcher. Add the hot syrup.
- Refrigerate until chilled, about 4 hours. Strain if desired, but do not press.
- Serve well chilled.
