  1. If you still have some gifts to wrap, do it on the evening of December 23rd, sipping a good hot cider (hot apple juice for the kids). In a saucepan, blend 2 cinnamon sticks, 2 cloves and 1 litre (4 cups)of apple juice or a 750 ml bottle of traditional hard cider. Add in 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of pink peppercorn in a tea-infuser ball or a piece of cheesecloth. Heat on low for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and let steep for 5 minutes. Remove the spices and peppercorn. Pour the cider into glasses and garnish with a slice of apple studded with a clove.
