Isabelle Deschamps Plante : Biography

Isabelle Deschamps Plante was exposed to cooking at a very young age. On Île d’Orléans where she grew up, her mother kept a vegetable garden and spent a lot of time in the kitchen. She always asked Isabelle for help and the little girl’s passion for culinary creation grew from these moments.

After studying food service and restaurant management techniques, Isabelle pursued a Bachelor’s degree in preschool and primary education for three years at Université Laval. All the while, she continued to improve her culinary skills working as a cook at Le 47e Parallèle restaurant in Quebec City.

She was a two-time finalist on the popular show Les chefs!, catching the eye of the public with her determination and charismatic personality. With over 24 years of experience in the kitchen, she has carved out a place for herself in the culinary industry as a chef de cuisine and pastry chef.

In 2016, Isabelle was approached by chef and host Ricardo, who hired her as a pastry chef to manage the very first Café RICARDO restaurant. Since then, two new cafés have opened and she is now the executive chef of all Café RICARDO restaurants. She’s also the Restaurant Kitchen and Food Product Head Chef for all of the recipes in the eponymous magazine.

Isabelle takes great care in respecting foods and their seasonality, placing great importance in showcasing them in all of her creations. The chef especially likes to surprise her clientele by being original and playful with the flavours she chooses to combine.

Rigorous, versatile, committed and passionate, Isabelle is honoured to join judges’ table on Les Chefs! for a second season. She is thrilled to share her passion, knowledge and deep love for food and cooking.

Starting in September 2023, she will also be hosting the show La cuisine d’Isabelle et Ricardo, which will air from Monday to Wednesday at 11 a.m. on ICI Radio-Canada.
