While the food processor is very efficient for preparing this recipe, you could also use a mandoline to slice slice the Brussels sprouts and a box grater to grate the apple.

For a more refined presentation, set aside a few dried cranberries, bacon pieces and crumbled cheese to use as garnish for the finished salad.

If preparing this salad in advance, add the dressing just before serving.

If the dressing is refrigerated, the bacon fat will congeal. Melt it for a few seconds in the microwave oven before using.
