  1. In a saucepan, soften the garlic in the oil. Crush the tomatoes with your hands and add to the saucepan along with the remaining ingredients. Simmer gently, uncovered, for about 20 minutes.

  2. Excellent starter sauce. I usually add two or three anchovy filets to the olive oil and stir until they totally dissolve before adding the garlic which I usually double unless I am using fresh Quebec garlic which has very big cloves. It's also worth spending a little extra money for a can of certified San Marzano tomatoes which will make your sauce extra special.
