Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Line a 20-cm (8-inch) square pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, beat the sugar and butter until the mixture is creamy. Add the eggs while beating, then the lemon zest and juice.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Stir the dry ingredients into the previous mixture alternating with the milk.
- Pour the mixture into the pan. Bake in the middle of the oven for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.
- In a saucepan, heat the orange juice and sugar. Right out of the oven, brush the top of the cake with the syrup. Cool completely before cutting.
