  1. Cut the spareribs apart at every other rib.
  2. In the slow cooker, combine the jam, mirin, soy and garlic. Add the meat and coat well with the sauce. Cover and cook over low heat until the meat pulls easily from the bone, about 6 hours.
  3. Transfer the ribs to a plate, tent with aluminum foil and set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, bring the cooking juices to a boil and reduce by half.
  5. Serve the ribs with the sauce. Accompany with jasmine rice and your choice of vegetables (sautéed broccoli or sautéed red, orange and yellow bell peppers, ­for example).

  1. last night i made these in the slow cooker, of course ribs on the bbq are better but for chinese restaurant style spareribs, these were delicious and easy to prepare! with rice and broccoli, it was a perfect weeknight super! and if you can't find mirin, i asked Ricardo on Facebook and you can make a homemade version of 1/3 cup of white corn syrup and 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar.
