Cut the lime in half. Slice one half into quarters. Moisten the rim of a long narrow glass with the lime wedge. In a saucer, put a little sugar. Rub the neck of the glass in the sugar. In the glass, place the mint, sugar, rum and squeeze the juice from the lime. Crush to release the essence of the mint. Add crushed ice and fill the glass with carbonated water.
