  1. With a rack in the highest position, preheat the oven’s broiler.
  2. In a skillet, soften the green onions and garlic in the olive oil. Add the balsamic vinegar and reduce. Set aside.
  3. Slice the baguette horizontally. Remove both ends, then cut into 8 pieces of about 10-cm (4-inch) long.
  4. Spread the onion mixture over the bread and cover with figs. Sprinkle with the nuts and cheese.
  5. Drizzle oil over the crostini. Broil for a few minutes.
  6. Season with pepper before serving. Serve hot as a snack or starter. 


If you can’t find fresh figs, you can use pear slices.
