  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F). Line two or three baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, and sugar with a wooden spoon. Add the eggs and stir until smooth. Stir in the dry ingredients and chocolate. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. With an ice cream scoop, shape each cookie with 45 ml (3 tablespoons) of dough. Place five to six balls of dough on each sheet.
  5. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes or until lightly browned all around. They will still be very soft in the centre. Cool completely on the baking sheet.

Do not cook more than one sheet at a time.

  1. Great recipe. Putting the dough in the fridge for an hour helps when it comes to shape the cookies.

  2. it is the best cookie baked for 50 years and they are the best super good

  3. This is the perfect chocolate chip cookie.

  4. I cut the butter and sugar usage by a half, using salted butter instead of adding salt and adding a little to make the dough soft. It turned out very tasty but not too sweet.

  5. I find the cookies to be really cake-like in consistency, not chewy at all.

  6. The easiest and best soft chocolate chip cookie recipe I have found so far. Second batch is coming in the fridge as I write this review. Thanks Ricardo!

  7. Result was good, and better than a lot of attempts at 'perfect ccc's'; unfortunately, I still feel the flavour is a bit flat & would benefit from a tsp of vanilla. Also, I'm not sure that refrigerating as long (or at all) is required, as my cookies were soft in the centre but did not spread the way I expected (hence another reviewers comment on how they are a subway style cookie- not true in my case!) They are more cakey than I was expecting and mounded rather than flat. Might try some tweaks next time.

  8. These cookies are so good!! I do have two questions. Why is vanilla not used and is the amount of butter the amount before it's melted or is that the amount after its melted?

  9. Absolutely the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have come across. These are hit with everyone, and they don't last long in my house at all. 5 stars all the way!

  10. This is the best recipie I have ever found for chocolate chip cookies ! Fool proof , easy and very tasty

  11. In the beginning of the recipe, you say to preheat the oven to 350 celcius. But in step 3, you mention putting the batter in the fridge for an hour. I think there's a mistake here. You should be telling people to preheat AFTER the batter has stayed in the fridge for an hour. I had to turn my oven on and off because of this mistake. Not cool (pun intended).

  12. I have baked for over 60 years and this is the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever eaten. I call it Chewy chocolate Chunk Cookies. This is the only one I will bake as Chocolate Chip Cookies from now one. YUMMY

  13. We have tried making these cookies twice now, following the recipe to a T, and they turned out flat as pancakes. What went wrong?

  14. If you like chocolate cookies from Subway or similar cookies, this is it! I don't think I will ever make another recipe of chocolate chip cookies! I made a batch for a potluck, I made the cookies much smaller as the crowd was mainly made of kids and they were all gone in minutes (40 cookies instead of 16)!

  15. Best chocolate chip cookie recipe so far.
