  1. In a bowl, combine the sausage, carrot, celery, mushrooms, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. Spread 125 ml (1/2 cup) of the tomato sauce at the bottom of the slow cooker. Cover with a layer of noodles. Feel free to break them, if necessary.
  3. Cover with one third of the meat mixture. Cover with 250 ml (1 cup) of tomato sauce and sprinkle with 75 ml (1/3 cup) of Parmesan cheese. Cover with a layer of noodles and add the ricotta cheese.
  4. Follow with a layer of noodles. Add one third of the meat mixture. Cover with 250 ml (1 cup) of tomato sauce and sprinkle with 75 ml (1/3 cup) of Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cover with noodles and repeat with the remaining meat, 250 ml (1 cup) of tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese. Finish with the remaining sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Cover and cook on low for about 4 hours. 



Note

Depending on the type of slow cooker, cooking time may vary. When the pasta is tender with the tip of a knife, the lasagna is ready. We do not recommend keeping the lasagna in the waiting mode (WARM) after cooking, the pasta will become too soft.

  1. I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical about not cooking the sausage meat first but then realized that all meat that goes into the slow cooker is raw! This recipe was really, really delicious! Everyone loved it and I will be making this again. I used my hands to mix the grated carrots and celery into the meat so that it mixed well. Followed as directed and turned out perfect. I also used a mix of regular noodles and Oven-ready noodles but next time I will use just regular noodles. Try this recipe!

  2. If you have a good-tasting sausage, this dish comes out yummy. We bought spicy sausages and made the dish accordingly. Make sure you have lots of cheese. Brought this to a pot-luck and everyone raved about it. I passed on the recipe to them. It's very easy to make and there is no fuss compared to the traditional lasagna recipe. You don't have to pre-cook the noodles. Now I like making lasagna.

  3. Delicious!! I can't believe how easy it was to put together and it came out perfect. I was a little concerned about the raw meat but it was cooked perfectly. Best lasagna we've ever had. Definitely will make this again and again!!!!

  4. Excellent! I made my own chunky tomato sauce and ricotta cheese. I used super thin lasagna noodles from a Italian specialty store. Those 3 steps made the dish spectacular! Bonus points was that I could make this dish ahead of time! Kudos on a great recipe!!!

  7. Tried this recipe because it sounded good and it didn't require browning the meat first. We used very spicy hot Italian sausages and the results were amazing! Four hours on low was perfect timing. This one is a keeper!
