  1. In a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, brown the meat and onion in the butter. Add the spices and cook for 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Deglaze with the beer. Transfer to the slow cooker.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Cover and cook on Low for 2 hours. It can be maintained on Warm for up to 2 hours.
  3. Stir well before serving directly from the slow cooker. Serve with corn chips.

  1. can beer be replace by other liquids (pref. non alcohol) for it to be kid friendly?

  2. Who would have thought that that disgusting yellow cheese would taste so good? I have served this twice to hungry crowds awaiting a BBQ and it has been a huge success. You will find the Velveeta cheese at the supermarket, close to the cream cheeses like Philadelphia. I lost some time asking at several Montreal cheese stores. They had no idea what it was.
