In a shaker, vigorously mix the ice cubes with the gin, syrup, triple sec and lemon juice for 30 seconds. Strain the mixture into a chilled lowball whisky glass. Add a few ice cubes and top off with the beer. Garnish with a large piece of orange zest (removed with a vegetable peeler), if desired.
