Cooking fava beans

To peel the beans, cook in a pot of boiling water for about 1 minute. Drain and place into a bowl of ice water. Remove the husk. You can find fava beans (green beans) frozen, peeled or not, in specialty or Middle Eastern grocery store. They are also sold canned, but the result will be much less interesting for this soup.
