Washing Mushrooms

Have you always wondered how to properly wash mushrooms? We’re sure you’ve heard of the many dos and don’ts with regards to washing methods, which can definitely be confusing. We’re here to show you how it's done!


  1. Never heard of peeling a mushroom. Why would you do that? And dry rubbing just doesn't make sense to me. I have a small, soft bristle mushroom brush that I use under a slow, cold stream of running water.

  2. I use the surgical nail cleaning brushes that you get at Lee Valley tools. Very fast.

  4. I actually have a little mushroom brush, believe that if you wish!

  5. excellent tip! Glad to see peeling is not really necessary. That will save lots of time!
