Ingredients

• • 3/4 lb (340 g) mild Italian sausages, casings removed
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups (625 ml) chicken broth
  • 2 cans (19 oz/540 ml each) white beans, rinsed and drained
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) whole-grain mustard
  • 1 tsp ground fennel seeds
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 6 cups (180 g) kale, stems removed, leaves chopped
  • 1/2 cup (40 g) panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup (35 g) fresh Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp chives, finely chopped
