Apple and Cheddar Burgers

  1. Preheat the grill, setting the burners to medium-high. Oil the grate.
  2. In a bowl, combine the meat, applesauce, breadcrumbs, egg and cheddar. Season with salt and pepper. Shape four 12.5-cm (5-inch) in diameter patties.
  3. Grill until well done, about 5 minutes per side. Toast the rolls on the grill.
  4. Spread the rolls with mustard and mayonnaise. Place a patty on each roll. Garnish with apple, green onion and lettuce.

  1. Great hamburgers! I did them on the BBQ and used regular ground beef to ensure maximum juciness. I will surely be making this again! Note that I accidentally put chopped green onion into the meat mixture, but this didn't hurt the flavour at all, and I would probably do this again deliberately when I make it again the next time!

  2. Didn't have apple sauce. I substituted with finely diced apples. Delicious. Husband added Blue cheese to his.

  3. Made this with turkey and it was so good. Would certainly make it again
