Ingredients

Preparation

  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Lines the bottom of a 20-cm (8-inch) square baking dish with a strip of parchment paper, letting paper hang over two sides. Butter the other two sides.
  2. Pour brownie batter into the prepared pan. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sour cream and icing sugar using an electric mixer until smooth.
  4. With a spoon, spread cheese mixture into 9 spoonfuls, side by side, on top of the cake. Run a knife through batter to create a marbled effect. Tap the pan on a work surface to level out batter.
  5. Bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out with a few lumps and not completely clean.
  6. Let cool in the pan. Remove from pan and cut into squares.

  1. Ricardo, I have followed your recipe for the cream cheese pg69! It did not coagulate! Are you sure you have to boil the mix? I have made quark from buttermilk many times, always great results, but your recipe is missing something. Please do look into it as it is a very costly recipe!

  2. the kids loved them! My husband and I thought they were a little bland. In the ingredient list it says to use sugar but do not list it in the preparation for the classic brownies!!! Maybe I'll use the sugar next time.
