Very nice. How much water to sugar? It looked like a thick syrup, is that what you wanted?
Good question re the amount of wine.
If we were to poach pears in red wine, would we use "straight" wine, or is it diluted? Seems like you would need to use a lot of wine to completely cover a pot of pears. Is it possible to save the wine and use it afterwards? Would we add sugar or other flavourings?
