6 Weekday Recipes Featuring Maple Syrup

The star of the sugaring-off season, maple syrup is also a versatile ingredient worth using in everyday recipes. Here are a few ideas to which you can add a bit (or a lot) of syrup in order to add some sweetness to your week, no matter the time of year.

1. Pork Tenderloin with Maple and Bacon

We drew inspiration from our maple-glazed pork tenderloin recipe to prepare this fragrant dish. The sweet and spicy sauce is made of maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, bacon pieces and spices, prepared while the vegetables cook. It’s a practical solution after a long day at work.

2. Spicy Maple Halloumi Pitas

For a delicious lunch that is a refreshing change from the classic chicken sandwich, try this irresistible option. Spread the pita bread with tzatziki sauce and fill with a crunchy red cabbage salad with fresh mint for a reinvented Greek gyro sandwich.

3. Crispy Maple Tofu

A tofu dish any day of the week is always welcome, especially since everyone will love it, including the kids. Its sweet and savoury, slightly spicy sauce is made from maple syrup, hoisin sauce and chili crisp. As for the tofu, it’s fried in oil and becomes extremely crispy thanks to the use of cornstarch. Serve it with rice and green vegetables.

4. Sheet-Pan Maple-Glazed Salmon with Pecan Gremolata

For busy evenings when you still want to take the time to eat well, turn to this spring-inspired recipe. All you need to do is brush the salmon with a maple syrup, lemon and butter sauce, and then bake it on the same sheet pan as the asparagus. Use the cooking time to whip up a gremolata, made with pecans, capers and lemon, making for a beautifully nourishing dinner.

5. Maple, Garlic and White Wine-Braised Chicken Legs

In this recipe, oven-braise the chicken thighs low and slow in broth made of maple syrup, garlic, mustard and white wine, allowing the flavours to blend as they cook. Serve with mashed potatoes for the perfect family meal.

6. Maple Pudding, Crumble and Whipped Cream

When you want to satisfy your sweet tooth with simple ingredients you already have on hand, turn to this pudding made with a more pronounced dark maple syrup. You can turn it into something a little more indulgent and gourmet by adding whipped cream and a maple shortbread crumble.
