    • 2 onions, thinly sliced
    • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) butter
    • 1 lb (454 g) ground beef
    • 1 lb (454 g) ground lamb
    • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) curry powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground allspice
    • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) ground cloves
    • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) ground cumin seeds
    • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mango chutney or apricot jam
    • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Sultana raisins
    • 1/2 cup (125 ml) slivered almonds, toasted
    • 1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, seeded and diced
    • Grated zest of ½ lemon
    • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
