Two-Day Menu for an Extended Power Outage

Eating a meal that’s been warmed in a fondue pot? It’s possible. Here’s a two-day menu made with ingredients that are non-perishable or easy to store.

Day 1

Breakfast

  • Peanut butter and banana toast
  • UHT milk or soy drink

Lunch

  • Salad with canned beans
  • Sliced bread, single-serve vegetable drink
  • Granola bar

Dinner

  • Fried egg over a hot flame
  • Sliced bread or crackers
  • Fresh or canned fruit, or store-bought applesauce
  • Store-bought cookies with UHT milk or soy drink

Day 2

Breakfast

  • Cereal with UHT milk or soy drink
  • Fresh fruit, nuts

Lunch

  • Vegetable soup in a fondue pot
  • Sliced bread or crackers
  • Granola bar and fruit

Dinner

  • Meal-sized couscous
  • Single-serve vegetable drink
  • Chocolate fondue
