November 13 to 17, 2023: What to Cook This Week

So, we’ve gone back to standard time, which means that you’ll be preparing and eating your meals after sunset again. As you’re getting back into the rhythm of things, satisfy your taste buds with a spicy stir-fry dish and count on flavours loved by the majority, such as a shish taouk spice mix and teriyaki sauce to cook tofu and fish.

Monday: Tofu Shish Taouk Plate

It’s possible to serve shish taouk for dinner without betraying your meatless Monday tradition: Simply serve a vegetarian recipe! In this one, tofu takes the appearance and taste of chicken with a mixture of sour cream and honey seasoned with garlic powder and ground allspice. Serve this quick dish with tabbouleh, hummus, garlic sauce and pickled vegetables. You can also try it in sandwich form, in pita bread.

Tuesday: Udon Noodles with Spicy Beef and Tamari

Ready to serve in just 30 minutes, this stir-fry is perfect for busy nights. Made with ground beef, it’s also economical. Brown the meat in a skillet with spices before mixing in the noodles, tamari sauce and maple syrup. Garnish each plate with pickled vegetables and a sprinkling of sesame seeds. A simple and hearty dish to add to your weeknight recipe collection.

Wednesday: Salmon Teriyaki

Glazed fish has considerably more chances of being appreciated by the pickiest kids. Made with soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin and sambal oelek, the slightly spicy, sweet and savoury taste of teriyaki is definitely responsible for this. Sprinkle sesame seeds on the salmon before sliding it into the oven to cook. Serve it coated in sauce with green beans on the side.

Thursday: Pickled Beet Salad with Peaches and Whipped Ricotta

Dig into your marinade stocks to make this richly flavourful meal-salad in no time. In addition to beets, the dish includes arugula and fresh or canned peaches, as well as a garnish of herbs and sunflower seeds. Top these ingredients spread on a large serving plate with a dollop of whipped ricotta. The creamy mixture brings a spicy, salty touch to this colourful recipe that will please everyone.

Friday: Barley Stew with Sausage Meatballs

With 20-minute prep time and double that in cooking time, it’ll take one hour before your family can gather around the table for a tasty, comforting meal. But it’ll be so worth it! This barley and sausage meatball recipe also includes zucchini and mushrooms cooked in a thick tomato sauce. A real treat for everyone at the table!
