March 29 to April 2, 2021: Sugar Shack Ingredients to Cook This Week

Sugaring-off season is here, and while we can’t head out to our fave spots this year, we sure can enjoy a few sugar-shack-inspired meals at home. So for this week’s menu, we’re sharing a few recipes that star some of our favourite ingredients featured in sugar shack feasts: beans, eggs, sausage, ham and, of course, maple syrup.

Monday: Bacon, Beans and Egg Sheet-Pan Breakfast

Breakfast for dinner? Yes! This quick and easy sheet-pan breakfast features both beans and eggs, for a hearty meal that brings the sugar shack experience home.

Tuesday: Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Ham

If you cooked a maple-glazed ham this weekend (a sugar shack classic!), leftovers are perfect for including in a grilled cheese sandwich. Pair it with a soup of your choice for a complete meal.

Wednesday: Maple-Glazed Pork Chops

Come springtime, what could be better than the taste and scent of maple? These 30-minute pork chops are coated in a sweet-and-savoury glaze that combines maple syrup and soy. Served on a bed of quinoa salad, it’ll become a weeknight favourite.

Thursday: Poached Eggs with Spinach and Lentils

Eggs come standard at any sugar shack brunch, but instead of pairing them with baked beans, we love lentils for that boost of iron! This plant-based protein is cooked with spinach and tomatoes, then topped with a poached egg and crumbled feta for a dinner that’s second to none.

Friday: Parmesan Cream and Sausage Pizza

One of sugar shacks’ usual offerings? Sausage! So we’re taking a crisp crust and creamy sauce, and topping it with crumbled sausage for the ultimate pizza. (It’s Friday, after all!)

Dessert: Maple Pudding Cake

A classic pouding chômeur is what sugar shack season is all about! A white cake soused in a maple and cream sauce, it’s a gooey and delicious post-dinner dessert that’s definitely going to answer that sugar craving. You can also purchase this dessert at IGA stores across Quebec!
