March 15-19, 2021: New Recipes to Cook This Week

Daylight saving time in the spring always brings a sense of renewal. Sure, we may be losing an hour on Sunday (boo!), but this is giving way to longer days and the promise that the warmer season is just around the corner. And for this first week when it begins to get dark later in the day, how about we celebrate with a few new recipes? These five are the latest to make their way to our site, and we’re certain they’ll become fast favourites!

Monday: Japanese Soba Noodles with Rolled Omelette

For one of the newest recipes on our site, we took inspiration from across the globe. If you’re craving authentic Japanese street food, yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) are a quick and easy weeknight solution. For added protein, we included tamagoyaki, a traditional rolled omelette that’s both savoury and sweet, and will be a hit with the kids!

Tuesday: Hamburger Steak with Onions

If you’re a meat-and-potatoes kind of family, we’ve got the perfect recipe for you. Hamburger steak is an ideal weeknight meal idea given that it’s quick and easy, affordable, and absolutely delicious. It’s topped here with a luscious onion gravy, and served with a side of potatoes. And for a touch of colour, we highly recommend including a green vegetable, too.

Wednesday: Ginger-Glazed Salmon with Bok Choy and Carrots

If salmon is on sale at the supermarket this week and you’re perusing our selection of recipes for something you haven’t tried before, look no further than the newest addition to our repertoire. The fish is cooked in a sweet-and-spicy glaze, bursting with flavour, served with tender veggies and topped with peanuts for added crunch. Best of all, this dish is ready in under 30 minutes.

Thursday: Buffalo Pork Tenderloin

When events like the Super Bowl or the Stanley Cup Playoffs roll around, you’re probably the type who can’t get enough of Buffalo chicken wings. Neither can we! So we’ve taken this spicy game-day classic and transformed it into a weeknight meal starring pork tenderloin. Cooling blue cheese sauce included!

Friday: Wild Rice Bowl with Squash, Mushrooms and Duck Confit

Duck and orange is a classic combination, but we know you don’t have the hours on a Friday evening to make canard à l’orange. So, in this latest power bowl recipe on our site, simply shred confit duck legs and serve them warm with cooked rice and roasted vegetables. Add some arugula for a peppery bite, and then a generous drizzle of orange dressing. Talk about fancy!
