February 12 to 16, 2024: What to Cook This Week

Love is in the air this week and it’s good to share meals with your loved ones. The selected recipes are varied, colourful and rich in flavour. Make way for fried tofu, green shakshuka and sheet-pan tagine-style chicken.

Monday: Fried Tofu Bowl with Green Vegetables and Rice Noodles

Make this vegetarian meal with pan-fried tofu and coat it with a dressing made of soy sauce, Korean chili and sesame oil. Divide the plant-based protein between shallow bowls with the accompaniments (rice noodles, cucumbers and snow peas). Sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds. A super simple recipe, perfect for a weeknight meal.

Tuesday: Cornflake-Crusted Fish with Herb Butter

When offering breaded fish to the kids, your chances of getting unanimous approval at the table are pretty good. This recipe uses not only rockfish or turbot fillets, but also leftover cereal for the breadcrumbs. After cooking the fish, take advantage of the fact that the skillet is still warm to make herb butter to coat the fish. Bring the finishing touch to the plates with a small green salad or a vegetable of your choice.

Wednesday: Orange and Saffron Confit Fennel with Pork Chops

For Valentine’s Day, gather the whole family around a nice meal prepared with love. Sprinkle the chops with this orange and harissa salt before browning them in the skillet. Serve the meat with fennel confit in a mixture of butter, orange juice and spices. Garnish with orange slices and serve with mashed carrots. A surefire favourite!

Thursday: Green Shakshuka

Make this variation on shakshuka by replacing the traditional tomato sauce used to poach the eggs with a mixture of leeks, spinach and herbs wilted in broth. Simmer until the egg whites are well cooked and the yolks are still runny. Add a harissa-based sauce and sprinkle with the rest of the herbs just before serving this easy-to-love vegetarian dish.

Friday: Sheet-Pan Chicken “Tagine”

Make your life easier in the kitchen for the last meal of the week by opting for an all-in-one recipe. On the baking tray, mix chicken thighs, merguez and onion with spices before baking in the oven. Add the zucchini and apricots about 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time. Garnish with cilantro and set the tray in the middle of the table for everyone to serve themselves family-style.
