September 6 to 10, 2021: The Perfect Late-Summer Menu

For this week’s menu, we’re enjoying the final crops from our vegetable gardens and the last few summer cookouts. So we’re closing out the season with some of our favourite summer recipes. Let’s go!

Monday: Smoked Meat Pizza on the Grill

During the summer, we enjoy popping into a local deli to enjoy a smoked meat sandwich. Today, we’re bringing that experience home by combining the same ingredients atop a pizza and then tossing it on the grill.

Tuesday: Shrimp Skewers with Piperade

Use the last of your harvested tomatoes and peppers from the garden to cook a piperade, a dish of Basque origin. Serve it with seasoned shrimp skewers, cooked on the grill.

Wednesday: Harvest Vegetable Naan Bread

No-cook meals are a staple of the warmer season, like this recipe for naan topped with vegetables. Given that you’re likely swimming in an excess of cherry tomatoes, zucchini and eggplant left in the garden, make this perfect cross between sandwich and pizza!

Thursday: Cajun Salad with Fried Okra, Blackened Corn, Green Beans and Kielbasa

Tonight, grill the corncobs you picked up at the nearby farmers’ market and create this tasty combo with fried okra. You can even show off those green beans you grew yourself, drizzled with a Cajun dressing.

Friday: Argentinian Grilled Meat Platter (Parilla)

Stop by Argentina on Friday and cook up a gargantuan meal featuring a combination of grilled meats. Serve them with a side of fresh criolla salsa, which includes garden tomatoes and peppers.

Drink: Honeydew and Aloe Vera Juice

The whole family will love this thirst-quenching drink made with aloe vera, honeydew and lemon juice, served on ice. Freshness guaranteed!
