What to Serve for a Raclette Breakfast

We’ve created a new tradition by preparing a raclette...breakfast! It’s a great way to reinvent brunch while sharing a gourmet meal with loved ones. Whether you lean sweet or salty, here are some ways to enjoy the first meal of the day.

For a salty raclette

1. Vegetables

If you’re the salty type, vegetables warmed on the raclette’s grill can serve as a basis for several recipes. Sauté small precooked baby potatoes, peppers, asparagus or mushrooms to garnish tasty pancakes which are covered with cheese that has been melted in small pans. Provençal tomatoes are also a great addition, and easy to make on the heating element.

2. Meat

Charcuterie items such as bacon or ham also work well on the raclette grill, true staples of a hearty brunch. They can be browned and added to vegetables on baguette slices for flavour-filled bites. Do you have sausages in the freezer or fridge? They will be perfect for preparing maple breakfast sausage patties.

3. Eggs (and more!)

Omelette and raclette go hand in hand! Pour a beaten egg into the small pans, then add cheddar, ham and chopped chives. You can also do scrambled eggs or a vegetarian egg version, with scrambled tofu. All that’s left to do is let it cook a few minutes before digging in.

For a sweet raclette

1. A fruit garnish

If brunch is synonymous with sweet dishes for you, it is an opportunity to use the raclette grill to cook bananas, apples and pears with butter. Alongside them, French toast is warmed and then garnished with fruit. Small blueberry pancakes are also popular. Their format is perfect for sharing the grill with others!

2. Gourmet touches

Add a special touch to your raclette by melting pieces of chocolate in the small pans or caramelizing fresh fruit in sugar or maple syrup. The finishing touch that children particularly like? Mini marshmallows sprinkled on melted chocolate and fruit!

3. Pastries

Brunch just isn’t the same without some pastries. You can create your own bites in a fun way by cutting croissants into pieces, then inserting little pieces of chocolate into each one and allowing them to melt in the individual pans. For a turnover effect, replace the chocolate with applesauce!

To accompany the raclette

As raclette can be a rich treat, why not add some lighter accompaniments, such as a salad, a smoothie or a fruit salad, to vary the dishes?
